i find it odd that if you bee reading around and have correctly come to the conclusion that dc headers suck (varies) then you should have obviously read what header does not suck.
but anyways, before people start spouting names like smsp or rmf and such, people are going to ideally want to know what your plans are. what are your goals for the car. is it a daily driver, a weekend warrior, a track car, a dyno queen, blah blah. and especially your budget. headers can range from $100 up to $2000, knowing what you want out of this will help people recommend the right header to get, because a smsp does you no better than a dc header if you are just sticking to i/h/e. good headers require good tuning to get the gains they yield, a good tune is essential to really take advantage of all or any mods. intake and exhaust is just a small step, first step to me. after the header, then you have to think about either eliminating or un-restricting the catalytic converter next. then get a freer flowing intake manifold like the skunk2 or euro-r (which both has their own strengths) or do a port and polish on your stock one (waste on a stock intake mani imo)
now if you go the distance, an expensive header will be recommended to you. if you are just looking for a kick and some stuff to chit chat and brag about, a dc header (what are they? $100 to $200 used?) seems like your match. there's nothing wrong with a dc header, especially if you mod the collector. but by that same token, you can mod your stock header collector too. its already designed relatively well.
good luck, i'm curious to see what people will say because this thread topic has been beaten dead over and over. and over. and now again.
