Header collector size FAQ > list all KNOWN collector sizes for aftermarket headers

Let's compile a list here > I am trying to find all 5th gen headers for Preludes that have certain collector sizes.

DC Sports 4-2-1 = 2.0"
Powercore = 2.25"
Mugen = 2.25"
SMSP = 2.50"
Weapon R = ???
Greddy = ??? (I know they only make for 4th gen, but I would consider modifying)
-
-
-

List others please and fill in blanks. I am trying to find ANY decent header with at least a 2.25" collector outlet. Thanks!

Some corrections:

DC: 1.8"
Mugen: 60mm (more like 2.36")

That's about it that I can think of off the top of my head.

SMSP is 2.5" OD, not ID. And I can confirm that the Mugen is 2.25" ID.

The GReddy collector is also 2.0". I've measured it more than once

FYI:
60.5mm = 2.38"
60mm = 2.36"

I hate when people call 60mm "2.25 inch"

The Kamikaze header is for supercharged cars.
IT WILL LOSE POWER ON A N/A CAR.

I have read several threads on h-t where prospeed didn't fit right.

Mike, its because most people confuse OD and ID measurements. For example, the Mugen header is ~60 mm OD which is ~ 2.25" ID.

It's identical to DC sports with the exception of the coating and badging.

Let's talk collector size...shall we ;-)

From what i've seen on the board, the popular opinion is that a 2.5'' collector is the best. I have a few questions regarding this opinion. A 2.5'' collector will be great for mid-high rpm horsepower b/c of the increased flow, but what about torque? Won't the bigger size of the collector(and the headers tubing) reduce flow velocity and potentially cause a loss of torque?

[Start Dissertaion]
It seems to me that a lot of people in the Honda/Acura Community are too focused on mearly horsepower, and specificly the peak #'s. I think it would be better to look at the dyno graphs and assess how readily availible that power is. I mean a peak of 200+hp is great, but if it takes you forever to get there, your gonna get overtaken. Another thing, big HP numbers are great, but I think we as a community should focus on torque more. When your comming out of a turn it is your torque that pulls you out quicker, not your horsepower. I think we can too easily be blinded by peak numbers and we should look at the whole picture. Just my 2 cents.[End Dissertation]

I know you've already heard from me on theh MDPC boards but this will at least keep the thread alive . . .

Torque is a big deal. With a full 2.5" system and only bolt-on mods, you'll lose a lot of low end. Ask Bob - he has a modified DC with a 2.5" collector, 2.5" test pipe, and 2.36" RSR Ex-Mag. He said his top-end is amazing but its a dog off the line and said that if he were to do it again he'd go 2.25" all the way through (you need to start coming to more MDPC meets btw!)

I'm inbetween the T1R (63mm outer diamter = approx 60mm (2.36") inner) and a Powercore /modified Thermal setup. I'm leaning towards the Powercore setup because I'm all about suspension mods and not into engine mods - besides intake/exhaust, I'll only be doing pulleys and Greddy Emanage. I don't see why I'd need more than 2.25" unless I did an NA buildup or went JRSC and I'd save ~$400 over the T1R.
