Handa vs Ebay

I went to look for OEM lip kits for my 97 prelude. honestly I don't know the difference between them. one on ebay is cheaper about 450 buck from seller called automotive-fiber and the handa.com is like 700 dollar. They both look the same. Can someone tell me what why they're different comparing their price?

The Handa one is a true OEM item and has better quality and fitment than the ebay one which is a knock off of the OEM one.

Before any assumptions are made, post a link to said ebay listing.

He's most likely talking about the kit made of fiberglass. Seen it several times posted on ebay under different company names and usually shipping out from Canada

I've seen the kits for that price. It's not an OEM one from Honda. Its a knock off made to look like the OEM kit is all.

they are charging 450 for a replica? you kidding me?

that just goes to show how desirable OEM kit truly is. Save up that extra money and get the real thing.

Isn't the OEM kit made of polyurethane?

The front lip is definitely polyurethane. As far as sides and rear lip, Some say they are also urethane, but some say they are ABS plastic. I searched and get a 50/50 answer.

I think I will call Honda and ask them this question, time to get down to the bottom of this lol.

the OEM front lip is urethane, but the sides and rear are made of plastic. I've had 3 sets of the OEM lip kits come through my hands since I'd either find them cheap or trade parts for them and then turn around and sell them.

I can tell you now that someone at the dealer most likely wont know, I work there and they don't normally stock stuff like that, it's usually special ordered.

what do you suggest then Mini? Everyone keeps saying different things about the materials OEM kit is made of.

Take someones word for it who has personally bought it new over the counter at the dealer, obviously urethane or plastic will be noticeably different than FRP.

Ok so I read all of you guy's post and I told my older brother about fiberglass. He told me it's not worth it getting fiberglass. he also said urethane is ok but highly recommended the polyurethane. So i looked for more on ebay for polyurethane and so far I found this

JDM MUG PU Black Polyurethane Front Bumper Spoiler Lip | eBay

This made of poly but not the front lip I wanted. I tried to look for the rear and side but didn't show any of it as poly. I wonder if you guy know any link for the whole kit as poly. If not then I'll just buy the one from handa part.

What's the big issue with fiberglass sideskirts? Are they really going to flex and crack the paint if you don't hit them on anything? Obviously Polyurethane is the best bet because it allows for movement but I see no issue with fiberglass unless your a nutjob driver.

I personally don't mind fiberglass sides and rear, cause I have the mugen replica side skirts and rear valences on my RHD, but I definitely don't recommend fiberglass front lips, bumpers, or anything else.

Exactly, a fiberglass front lip is asking for trouble.

Has anyone bought this ebay lip kit, specifically the front lip and sides, that can attest to the quality? I mean $265 dollars for an oem front lip vs $90 dollars is huge. I don't hit my car against anything so I can take the risk.

i bought the cheap oem replica lip kit from ebay, its very poor quality the one i got was from canada it looked good on the car but it was very cheaply made like they didnt use enough fiberglass it had weakspots in some areas. but your call

yeah good decision. Replicas are always hit or miss. Most of the time miss. You will know a good replica when you see one.
