So I know there have been hundred's of threads about this, and I have reviewed quite a few of them on numerous sites. I figured I would finally just post and ask for myself.
I purchased Halo's a few years ago from an Ebay Store
Here's thelink
Unfortunately I was inexperienced and didn't realize that this pair did not come with an HID conversion kit. I am planning on buying thisset.
My problem like everyone else is I am unsure if this is going to work for my Halo's. Though the auction states it will, and too me it looks good, I just wanted your guys' second opinions.
Along with that I was wondering how I would be able to adjust the lights? They are extremely out of alignment and I have to drive around with the high beams on just to see anything normally at night. I am aware of the two cogs on each side, but I do not know how to turn them without taking them out and turning them with a Philips.
Obviously this would defeat the purpose of aligning them. One thread I found said the guy stuck a flathead into the individual nitches in the cogs and aligned them that way. Though I would think this would be hazardous as to maybe breaking the plastic nitches.
Advice please?
I'm currently deployed to Iraq but will be home in a couple of months, so I cannot post pictures at the moment. I'll see about getting my friend to send me some.
Well you're learning the hard way that you bought garbage off eBay. If a phillips head screw driver doesn't work then there's really not much you can do. All i can say is that it's pretty self explanatory. There are grooves which the screwdriver fits into, you turn it and it turns the cogs. Counter-clockwise lowers the lights, clockwise raises it. If there's another cog it will control left and right adjustment.
These won't last very long either. They have a high failure rate for the halos/LEDs burning out. They are also poorly manufactured and HID bulbs cause the chrome to peel inside the projector. Hell, even halogen bulbs cause the chrome to peel.
I've had mine for 2 years, they still look fine, havnt hazed over and everything still works. I had used a flathead to align them myself using the technique u described above... As for most stuff on ebay, it's a hit or miss. So far mine have done just fine.
Yes Shimee that happened within the first year of having them. I was pretty pissed off. The inside of the lights melting was total BS. I figured I would just buy a new pair pretty soon here, do you have some you would recommend?
You cheaped out and bought the regular halos that caused many problems with the overheating and burning out.
The good ebay ones are the CCFL Halo projector headlights, I've had mine for a good year now and haven't ran into any problems yet. The HID's are just plug and play, you can just fit the bulb in yourself but you might want to consider going to a 60W for more light output.

I bought a set of halo lights , from Anzo america, they came with teh hids and i have had them in the car for three going on four years, and i hadjsut them myself with ease and have no isses witht hem fogging, hazing, leakign, misting, or any other issues. Hell the only thing i have to do i wax over them and buff them shiny againa fter iw ash and wax. The interiopr of the lights is black and has retained its integrity 100%. Howver, these lights come form a reputable manufacturer not ebay.
I know they are crappy lights Blaq, lol that's why I'm trying to replace them now.
DaHonga I checked Ebay for CCFL, half of the results came up with my old headlights. I'm hesitant to try out any more off of Ebay.
Shimee, I looked those up, I couldn't find anything for Preludes. So if they come premade I'll consider them, but if I have to do any extra modding, the chances are slim that I'll buy them.
Bouckarooo I'll look into those, thanks a lot.
If you want stock-ish lights that aren't crap quality, you want DEPO's. They can be found on ebay. As for retrofits, you either have to modify your stock lights (which you would still have to buy, you wouldn't want to use your busted ebay lights for a retrofit) or pay someone to modify them for you. There is no one that sells retrofits as a complete premade bolt on unit.
Well I'm not wanting stock, I would definitely prefer aftermarket. Here's what I found forDEPO that doesn't look like stock. Would anyone recommend these?
I found those Anzo America lights on Ebay, but after the first purchase I'm hesitant about anything. *Sigh* Maybe stock is the way to go...
Call anzo directly to make sure you are getting correct product, ass EGALE EYES make an ebay knock off that they sell AS Anzo lights, but they are not. Call anzo directly and and htey can further assist you. Since anzo is int eh states your lights should be far cheaper than mine as i had to pay shipping, duty, taxes and brokerage and the end amoutn came to almost seven hundred bucks.
I don't know why they jacked up the price tho, I bought it when it was $160 or so...
Anyways, my friend's driver side halo didn't work when he installed it so we sent it back and their customer service was pretty good, sent us another one back and it's all good now.
You have vouches here in quality but be warned that the performance is no better than your stock reflectors. The projectors used in these lights accept H3 bulbs, they're essentially fog light projectors. They have a narrow beam pattern and scatter light in the wrong directions and produce random hot spots. I can make this comparison because I had a set on my car when I bought it and since then have had three retrofits.
Thanks DaHonga I was looking at that one from that seller.
Shimee so really I could use the stock projectors and still stick the HID bulbs in them? They take the H1's correct? I'm just wanting great visibility and something that looks good too. The old halogen's didn't work very well, and then I got in an accident and the driver side headlight was smashed. Figured it was a good excuse to buy some aftermarket lights, too bad I chose the wrong ones.
Just tryin to undo a mistake and still come out better over all. Thanks for all of the help so far!
If you're going to have HIDs put on your car, I'd stay away from the ebay junk projector lights. Those lights are designed for halogens, not HID. Do it right the first time and use HID projectors for your stock housings. It's worth it and doesn't take very long. By getting those eBay lights you're replacing mediocre halogen reflectors with equally as mediocre halogen projectors.
