i have been looking online for something to do to my 98 base lude which is getting ready to hit 200k after seeing that i could get a k20 for around 5 k it got me thinking, how much work would it be to do a swap? things to keep in mind , the exhaust and intake ports are swapt ( exhaust in the back, intake in the front, ) timing chain instead of a belt, less oil burnage, more power ( if i can get my hands on a Type R (which i prolly cant lol)) 6 speed tranny and LSD ( again in the type R) any ideas, thoughts, concerns, attaboys would be grealy apprectiated
Didn't someone swat a k20 in a 5th gen a few years back then totalled it?
Regardless, I don't see much benefit from all the $$$, blood, sweat, and tears that would go into this project. Just rebuild the H22 of order one from Hmotorsonline for $1500ish
Yeah man, that's a lot of work, if you want a K-series engine so bad, get an RSX.
I think swapping the K20 into a Prelude is sort of wasteful, because I know people do it just for looks, rather than actual gains in performance. What a waste of time and money just to look cool, or different.

fatiye--Yeah, it was done a few years ago, and the guy did total it, I think back in '07. Here ya go: (original link I posted had no pics.......) This is BEFORE it died, apparently: K-series Prelude - Honda-Tech
yea but i can see the insurace agent strait up raping me with rates on one of those, an 11 year old car on the other hand slides under the radar quite well
it's been done before, but ask yourself if it's really worth the time and money to have it done. If you're just wanting to be different, then go for it, but if you're looking for power, you're probably better off rebuilding an h22 and going turbo.
I asked myself if doing a RHD conversion was worth it, and in the end, HELL YEA it was worth it. I've never seen another Prelude in my area that's RHD, I'm always asked about the car, and it helps start conversation so that I can pass out buisness cards and get some work
haha awesome way to drum up business lol. I was just kicking it around, i mean for the 5000 bucks i get a new(ish) engine with LSD and more power, with new skunk2 cams and intake and exhaust manifolds it would be fun lol how much would it cost to sleeve the H22, get new forged internals, chip, dyno and add a limited slip diff. then route the turbo tubing and intercooler, don't get me wrong not sayin it is difficult , i just see it being just as expensive and just as much a PITA. The thing i love about the prelude is how well it handles, going fast in a strait line has never really appealed to me much. i think the benefits of the K motor would be totally worth it however this was a " hey let me get yalls idea on this" kinda post and i get exactly what i was hoping to get, yes's no's and a chance to bang a guys girl ( im gonna hold you to it if i pull up to your house with a K motor in there ) lol jk
From what i know when i thought about doing this swap: i contacted a couple of people who have swapped the k series into their prelude or accord. What i was told from these people who "have" completed the swap is you can use the hasport mounts for k series engines into a prelude(BB4) or use the cb7 accord mounts for a k series motor swap with of course modification. Rywire can convert the harness for $1187 shipped Shift linkage is of course up to your imagination also. Have fun and goodluck
If you actually have the liquid cash to do something like this then you should just buy a bike. My bike cost me like 6000. Thats about a grand less than this would bs would cost. Lol not to mention it will **** on some ***-series preludes all day long. You really wanna do something pretty bad ass?? Grow a pair, buy a nice J32 (i think) out of a 2001 Acura TL and make it happen big guy. 280 hp, too much torque. Only about 260lbs heavier. Yeah... Think about that..
Its been done in a 5th gen by a guy close by to me in NYC.. But it was lost in an accident. This was BEFORE this kit came out for the 4th gen.. I read in a magazine that they made this kit for the prelude simply because its the better handling platform between the two cars and is one of the best handling cars honda has made... Figure THAT one out... It made me contemplate, but for me it isnt worth it. Some of the problems u run into are, relocating things, and the K series being too tall of a motor.. Thats only some of the problems.
You should swap a K-series into your Grand National.
