H22 bottom end question

So I just pick up a 1997 Honda Prelude with the h22 motor for $1000. Body is a little rough but nothing too bad. Put it up in the air to inspect everything and heard a Horrid knocking coming from the bottom end. I don't think its spun a bearing yet (its still runs and drives great) but I believe its getting close. What I'm wondering is how hard is it to put a crank and new rods and mains in the bottom end? I know you have to pull the motor to do it but do you have to separate the head off the block to put a new crank in? That's kind of what I'm looking at. Thanks!

If it is knocking bad the crank is toast and the rods are most likely damaged too. You will have to completely tear down the engine to fix it. Your looking at a full rebuild at this point.
