I have tried 2 sets of Aftermarket H1s and each were different manufactures. The OEM headlights work fine. But I have had 3 burn out on the passenger side and one blow up (literally!) on the driver side. Any ideas on why these are going out.
Not sure what ones you've tried but a lot of them a simply junk bulbs.
I've tried several different brands and all of them didn't last longer than a month.
Try Vision Plus bulbs by Phillips. They're nice and bright. Give a good pattern and supposedly last long. I have a set and I'm going onto six months with them. I like them and they are better than the OEM bulbs.

I had that same problem with my 98 lude.I went through 3 sets of H1's (Eurolights artic white). On my fourth set now and $100 later, I have had them in for about two months and they have not blown yet.
I know that H1's arent the best bulb to begin with and euro's aren't that good.I will get some polargs or phillips soon. But I heard that that the polargs blow easy too on some cars.
I have a extra one left in case they decide to blow out again
Get phillips replacements. They work well. The problem with most of the non-OEM style ones is the bulbs aren't stabilized for tough suspensions and the filaments get banged around, and blow out fast.

its the voltage or the wattage of the bulb that doesnt match the stock ones i had the same problem but i upgraded to some 80 dollar bulbs its an r word i cant remember how to spell it i can find the box if u want to know though but they are good and havent had any problem with them

I have had my Nokya H1 arctic whites on my 2000 lude the same pair for at least 6 months. Im wondering why everyones is burning out so fast. I had Hipers before that lasted for abour 3-4 months, that wasnt so bad. Everyone does know not to let anything touch the bulb when installing, especially dirt and oil? That will cause the bulb to explode and that is the only probable cause. Burning a bulb out shouldnt explode. However I wish the Prelude had H4 bulbs, they are very large and have a much higher light output . Oh well. I hear the PIAA Super plasmas are very good but I dont feel like shelling out 100 bux, what if they burn out? There goes a bill Hope this helps

i have h1 and h3c piaa xtreme white bulbs since last summer and they're still working. i did pay an twig and a berry but they've lasted for me, even in the winter time. the only thing is that police flash there spot light at my car so either they think i'm drunk and have my brights on or they are aimed too high, the latter is correct.

I've had good luck with the Hyper Industries bulbs, have had them for about 4 months so far (ever since I got the car), plus they aren't priced too bad
