Grinding

I mentioned in a previous post that i had been grinding 4th to 5th. I'm going to give the details this time so maybe someone can ID the exact problem. I'm hoping it doesn't require a complete tranny rebuild. So here goes..

If I'm driving normally (not giving a lot of gas) and shifting around 3,000 RPMs from 4th to 5th, I don't grind.. It's when I'm really high up in the RPMs, 3,000+ RPMs that I ALWAYS grind when shifting normal...also, when I floor it in 2nd gear instead of just going easy on the gas up to 3,000 RPMs, I grind also...

I've tried double clutching when shifting high up in the RPMs and this didn't seem to solve the problem...the best solution so far has been just putting it in neutrul and waiting for the RPMs to drop before actually shifting...

I do always manage to get from 4th to 5th w/o actually forcing it into gear when I grind, but I just get that horrible noise..

Other than replacing the tranny fluid, are there any other possible solutions? Thanks

This has been beaten to death. If changing the fluid doesn't work, start saving for a transmission rebuild as you'll be needing it. There is a Honda TSB out on this, I don't have it handy, but if you're in warranty with no mods (haha) then you'll likely be covered under warranty. Search the archives here or on hondaprelude.com.

No quick fix here.
