green stuff uneven pad wear, 170 miles...

just installed ebc USR's in front and ebc dimple-drilled/slotted rotors in the rear with 4 sets of ebc green stuff pads and goodridge stainless steel braided brake lines for all 4 wheels. everything brand new right out of the box.

170 miles so far...babied it the whole way even though these are supposed to be "rapid bedding". squeals like race brakes or like the metal fittings are telling you you have no pads left.
just got around to checking the front left today and holy crap. rotor is stuck on tight, but the pads are wearing very unevenly. almost like it's taking chunks of the pad out on the inside/smallest diameter part of both.

any ideas? they're single piston calipers so i don't think the piston would cause something like this, but i dunno. what do you all think?

Did you clean and lube the caliper sliders? If one can't slide or is sticking it will cause uneven wear

used brake cleaner on the rotors, that's about it. what are caliper sliders?
the pads aren't dragging -- i tested several times coasting at diff speeds with clutch in, had no resistance whatsoever

stupid, but i just checked the back of the front left rotor once i got it off...took beating it with 4lb sledge hammer for a good minute lol. there was a spot of some pad material caked up in one spot that was probably destroying the pad in that place, but it's very smooth / worn more on the rotor in that small place than the rest of the rotor (same place that the pad was eaten up in)

They're also called Caliper Slide Pins
If you look at your calipers, there's bolts that go from the one half of the caliper to the other, and have a black rubber seal at the end where the bolt head is. Those are the sliders (it's what the one half of the caliper slides on to match the other half.. sort of, if that make sense?)

Here's a pic of where they'd be located:

In this picture it's the bolt the guy has the ratchet on (the other slider isn't visible as it's at the other end of the caliper)

New pins and seals are typically under $10 to $20 per caliper. Or you can lightly sand the existing sliders and grease with brake grease if they aren't in horrid shape.

thanks for all the pictures / effort man, very detailed. i didn't realize that's what that piece was called. it seemed in alright shape, i mean they compressed without anything catching so i figure they're alright. i found that spot of material on the rotor in the same place the pad was being eaten up so i think that was what was causing it, just not sure why that stuff caked up there in the first place. it looked like pad material, just dunno what caused it come off like that and get stuck on the rotor in the first place.

the front left one doesn't squeal now, but the front right still does...going to check that tomorrow when i get a sec. i'll see if i can't upload a pic or something if i can't fix it.

so uh...i've no idea wtf i did but i opened everything up again on the front right where the squealing is coming from. i pushed the caliper sliders together to see if they moved freely and they did. rubbed off the dust on the pads and looked at the rotor. saw there was nothing to be changed really and put it back together. i drove almost 10 miles in the city and only heard it squeal twice. no idea what i did to have that drastic of an effect (was squealing every time i got on the pedal at all before i parked and did that bit).
any idea if it's ok to spray brake cleaner on the rotor after the calipers are on? or just when you're about to put rotor on / cleaning it to be put on?
