A friend of mine has a Greddy PE catback exhaust on his car. He's going to give it to me, but he told me that it was welded or something by the muffler shop. I thought these were simple bolt-ons and you just needed the appropriate gaskets.

He has a TypeSH and I have a base coupe. Would his exhaust simply come off his car and be able to be put on mine?

No. You can only use base stuff on base preludes and SH stuff on SH Preludes. They are two different lenghts.

you will have to get the shop to weld 'extra length' on to the pipe that connects to the cat.

its worth it, not a big deal, especially if your friend is giving you the exhaust for free (?).
