Greddy Evo2? *researched* and need help from actual owners.

Either Greddy EVO2(or evo) owner or someone who heard it in person..

Is this exhaust quiet or not?

I did research, and got mixed reviews.
some said its quiet and they love it.
some said they hit 99db, and they are going to trash it.

Can you guys compare the loudness to RS-R?
Im sure its louder, but I heard EVO on my bud's car, and it sounds beautiful.
but then, he just traded for injen exhaust. He said evo was too loud for him. wtf?

what would you guys say?

I do not have an Evo 2, i have the PE, the predecessor to the Evo, and I don't think it's loud/whiny at all, it has a deep rumble to it that's hard to find, I would expect the Evo 2 to be the same.

The GReddy EVO is not a "loud" exaust. It has a low deep tone during normal driving/acceleration but it will scream at WOT. It does not sound like your saturday morning lawnmowers/ weedwackers/ fart-pipes you hear on the roads all the time. The sound is nice and deep. Combine it with a CAI and your will love the sound of the roar.

Dont be affraid my son, you wont be disapointed.

i have the greddy evo (not evo2) with the aem cai. it can get annoying at times, but i guess i am getting a little older. i just changed the aem to the type-s intake. it sounds much better. most of the noise is now coming from the back of the car. the greddy sounds much better than the typical civic type exhaust

thanks to all of you for info.

That low-deep-tone we are referring to.. how loud is it?

I hate droaning-noise exhaust.. I highway cruise alot, and droaning noise around 2000~4000rpm(highway RPMs) is just a killer for me..

you guys know how bad it would be with greddy evo?

how about compare to Tanabe Racing Medallion?

I currently have Ultra medallion(basically racing medallion with titanium canister), and its a bit loud. deep and racy as hell which I love, but I'll sacrafice a little more racing feeling for quieter exhaust...
I guess Im a really "stay quiet in the car" guy, cause I also got rid of my subwoofer system..

help!

hey mugenpoweredlude, i saw you also while i was doing search.

you modified the hanger to make it fit tight so it doesn't hang low right?
I acutally did came across your review and read it.
There wasn't much about the sound.. you mentioned it sounds different from Evo1.

how does it sound now? after break-in?
Exhausts tend to get alot louder after they are broken-in.. even louder later..
how does it sound so far?

read my review...everything you just asked is in there
but yes, the more miles on the car, the louder it becomes...to an extent

If that's what you're concerned about... i'd stay away. The drone is pretty loud. When i have my subwoofers on, i can actually hear the distortion between the exhaust and the subs. But i got used to the drone and i love my Evo.

I heard the Apex'i World sport is a lot quieter... but i don't have experience with that on a prelude.

"it has about the same exhaust note as the EVO, however, its a bit different after 4K rpms
combined with Mugen header and Carsound 2.5" cat it has a very nice rumble at idle...tehehehe after 4k rpms its quite deafening "

I assume exhaust is pretty loud from idle to 4000k...

I want some details if you don't mind.. how bad is the droaning on the highway.. daily driving.. at wot... stuff like that.

Day177017, you are scaring me... are you serious? is it that loud? I have DC header also.. would it be even louder?
it better not be louder droaning noise than my tanabe......

I heard the Tanabes are a lot louder. This is also my first exhaust... but don't get me wrong, I LOVE my EVO... it's just that inside the car, it's kinda loud... but i like hearing it. It's not louder than my subwoofers, but if i have the stereo low, i can hear the distortion. From outside, it's pretty quiet. My friends are actually surprised that it's as quiet as it is. I can try to record a sound clip for you tomorrow if i get a chance.

i was the one that tested 99db with my evo 1. It drones. Evo 2 will drone too. Not so much initially when you first install it, but it will get worse with age. I wasn't too concerned with drone when I got the evo, it got worse, and i started hating it few years later. Then finally I got ticketed. When i got my stock exhaust back in, driving was so much more comfortable that I vow to never get a loud exhaust for daily driving anymore, unless it has some magical hp gain. hehe

point is: evo and evo 2 is 89db and not that loud when you FIRST get it. But it will get louder and louder til you're in my position where you're now makin +10db at 5250rpm. Linear rate of increasing volume? Not sure. can't help you there. It's a fast rate though, due to straight flow design of the muffler packing.

wow, im speachless, to actually think a non socal member would know my setup (even though its kinda listed in my sig) really makes me feel more at home here....ANYWAYS on to the review

EVO2 = sex, seriously, like i can see why some people might not like it just cause its nowhere near as quiet as stock or like even mugen, but its a sweet exhaust, if your not accellerating and just cruisin down the road its pretty quiet, i mean you can hear it for sure but its definitely tolerable. when you hit WOT and even up through vtec you can hear it, its so sweet. and its stainless steel, cummon that is a big factor right there. Anyways this exhaust is really awesome, if your looking for hookups PM h22atypes. Allen doesnt post much anymore and hes not technically a vendor but he can get you a sweet deal on it, even after shipping if your not able to pick it up it would probably be a great deal. and he aint looking for profit on it so its pretty much at cost pricing, anyways hit allen up for a sweet deal

i havent really noticed the exhaust getting that much louder and ive had it for about 5 months, plus if youve got oem kit or even RS kit it fits so nicely with the kit, with the WWRS kit you might have to get hangers tweaked a tad for lip clearance but as for oem lip it fits so perfectly, anyways hope you decide to get it cause its super sweet, lata homes
