Got some problems, advice/help needed!

hey guys, well i took my 98 prelude into the garage today... i need a new front right wheel bearing and lower ball joint (same wheel)

is this a hard thing to change my self? they wanted £200 notes for it!! seems alot

Im not really that savvy with cars, but am good with working on fiddly things... what do you guys reckon?

you need to have that wheel bearing pressed into the hub, so unless you have a press you'll need to have a shop do it.

I assume you're in the UK? I am not sure what the labor rate is there, it sounds a little high but not outrageous IMO

I've replaced neither on the Prelude, but done both on others cars and it was no sweat. In the US, cheap presses are, well...cheap!

I've replaced the wheels bearings on some cars and a press wasn't necessary at all. They could be tapped in and out with a socket. The axle/axle-nut are what keep them in on many cars.

Check the factory manual and see what all is involved...was your car having issues, or did they just tell you this, unsolicited? If there's no apparent problem you might have some time to think it over.
