Not an option. The blue valve cover was available on the Accord Sir-T. If you have a USDM Prelude, there were no engine options. If the engine serial matches the body serial, you have an H22 w/ a standard black valve cover (if the cover is different, then it's an aftermarked accessory).

and according to it, you have a 97 model as 97's begin with 1 for base and 15 for SH. 98's begin with 2 and 25, respectively, and 99 begins with 3 and 35 respectively... i assume the pattern repeats till 2001

so... could be coincidence... but i assume your engine is stock.. but canada models are numbered the same... not sure about japan..

does the serial number match to the transmission's serial number? not sure if that gives any clues..

maybe that helps?
That pattern definitely doesn't continue till 2001..i've got an '01 and the VIN goes JHMBB6248

To OP, your car most likely has a good ol' stock USDM engine in it..i'd just order the standard oil pump for the USDM engine and call it a day. I think it's pretty unlikely that the motor was swapped for a JDM.

yeah i think it is but I was just wondering since it doesn't have the "h22a1" it's "h22a" but I know now that a few of the 97 preludes came with leftover h22a's

It is a sequence number, it doesn't mean much. Only the vin tag that is riveted to your motor can tell you something. doesn't it say that somewhere in this thread?

Did you even read this thread?

oviously i read the thread or i wouldnt have posted on it. I did a swap with a JDM H22a. it doesnt have the "green tage by the oil filter" and any other vin number on it. My transmission has also been swapped for a type R tranny. so what i am trying to figure out is if the engine is from a 94, 95, or a 96. None of us can remember.
