I tried a search and couldn't find anything, so i am posting this.
I am wondering what people paid for their 2001 Prelude? Or what would you see as bing a good price for a 2001 Prelude. So far I have found one for just over $23,000. How good or not good of a deal would something like that be.
Just remember, don't ever pay sticker price. If you're good at negociating, (<----spelling ) you could probably spend around $20K for a new one...My pops is good at it and was able to talk my 97 prelude down from $20K to $15K

20K to 15K. Good lord. I only wish I could do something like that. I have a feeling that a lot of dealers are not going to budge much since the car is not being made anymore.
I got my 2001 SS for 23.5, and I thought I was getting a good deal... maybe autos cost more. Maybe the realized that I was a brown-asian, and decided to play hardball. Thank god its Electron Blue Pearl, or Id be ripping my hair out.
Anything over 18k for a used 2001 is a rip off, because the value goes down the second you buy your car. Manuals are always cheaper than auto (i kno that for a fact).
i got my car for 500 under the invoice back in may 2001. i'm sure u can get a prelude for dirt cheap now since they can't rid of them around the bay area.

You should be able to. If you decide to get one, ask them for the invoice before agreeing to buy it, and then tell them you're pay $500 or maybe a little more than the invoice price...They have to show you the invoice for the car..

You can check edmunds.com or kbb.com for the invoice prices, but IIRC, the invoice for the 2001 base is ~21400 and the SH is ~23700. It's always been easy to get a brand new Prelude for close to invoice. The car never really sold that well and dealers were anxious to move them.
Being that the 2001's are no longer in production, it might be hard to find one on a dealer lot. If you do manage to find one, I think you could probably get one for less than invoice.
On the other hand, the dealer may try to tell you that they don't make them anymore (true) and that they're hard to find (maybe true), and that they're very sought after (um maybe not). He will then try and sell it to you at MSRP.
BTW, a local dealer had a sale on their entire 2001 inventory and offered $3K off MSRP on all their Preludes (MSRP for base is ~23900 and SH is ~26400). That was about 3 months ago.
I have a friend who works at a Honda dealership near my house. He tells me that since the Prelude has been discontinued, dealers want to get rid of em. I know several people who got 2001 Ludes around 17 with a little miles on em.
This is what they tell me. Dont take it as the gospel truth if you dont want to.
