Good Brakes Pads?

Hey everyone...it's been a hella long time since I've been on here...I was searching some threads to find good brake pads/rotors...and it seems there's bits and pieces of info.

I really need the pads soon and would like some high perf. pads... I've seen some threads on the cobalts but are they OK w/my stock rotors until I upgrade later?

I do brake pretty hard on daily driving and plan to auto x soon.

Also, my steering starts to wobble when I brake hard...my rotors are warpped right?

Thanks in advance.

Once again everyone will offer an opinion. For the street/daily driver may I suggest that you get a set of the AEM/Nissin pads from Summit. That is what I have been using on all of the cars for general purpose driving. They are much better overall than the stock ones. Want something more agressive-there are a number of options.

I recommend Hawk HPS pads. I've found them to work great under hard braking, and they are what I consider street-safe. If you find that you want a little more for the track, they also make the HPS +.

I'd buy the HPS pads, some new rotors, and follow the guidelines on stoptech's website for bedding them in.

I'm using the Hawk HP+
I love them. Awesome braking power. Only problem is that they dust like a mother

For street/autocross the best one on the market that I know of is the Carbotech Bobcats. Hawk HPS is good as well. AEM pads are okay, but they're more of just replacement OEM pad.

I am currently using Carbon Metallic break pads from Auto Zone. They work great also, not much break dust

Agreed. The dusting is really bad. I can never seem to keep my wheels clean anymore. Thats the only downside to the HP+

One Word: COBALT

The streets pads (GT-Sport) I just installed the other day with their premium rotors. The set up is sick. So far I'm pretty happy with them. Stops on a dime. Very slight squeal with light pedal pressure. But with an aggressive pad like that small price to pay. I also switched to ATE brake fluid. I give it a big

Second the Cobalt GTS.

I liked the Hawk HP+s, until I started seriously getting into tracking. Our cars are too heavy, and the HP+s can't handle the heat. IMHO, I wouldn't mess with the HPS.

My setup...

Street / AutoX - dedicated OEM Blanks and Cobalt GTS

Track - dedicated OEM Blanks and Cobalt Spec-VR

Brembo blanks + Axxis pads from Mike(our sponsor).

Happy as hell. I don't know how I stood against OEM braking.

The quality of the Cobalt rotors is equal to the Brembo. Except the Brembo will rust. The Cobalt has a special coating on it that will not come off which will prevent rust.

In addition to that I couldn't find Brembo for the rears. So I have Cobalt rotors fronts and rears.
