Genuine Honda Body Parts

I recently was backed into by someone attempting to parallel park. The front fender and bumper had to be replaced and while the car was in the shop the rear bumper is being repainted as well. Here's the question, the insurance agency that insures the person who hit my car is Farmers and they generally will not pay for OEM parts. Though in this case I'm insisting upon using OEM parts as the replacement as there's no reason to decrease my car's value even further by using cheaply made aftermarket parts, as the insurance company's role here is to return my car to it's before accident state.

Now, does anyone know where the "HONDA" stamp is on the front bumper and drivers side fender is? I completely forgot to look for them before I took the car in to get it repaired. The shop that I brought it to is very reputable and seems to be up front though it's just easier to look for the stamp to make sure that eveything is as it should be.

never ask for OEM parts they'll **** u and say "well they are oem spec" ask for OEM HONDA. They have to pay for it, they say they don't want to, but its the law they have to.

Well, in 03 I went through this with my shop when i had all my work done with the new PJ.

After talking with 4 insurance companies and honda, the automotive insurance law states that the insurance company does not have to supply orignal OEM parts to a car that is more than 1 year old/12k miles. Unless customer supplied/pays the extra.

They always supply "oem replacements". All of the ins. company's use the replacement pricing when doing a report. Maybe if your car is an 01 with under 24k or something, you can probably argue with your ins. company and make them pay the extra for a OEM bumper. Then youll just have to prove that they used one.

Veng and other replacement manufacturers are a crap shoot. Some parts are good fitting, other's are not. I recieved front/rear bumpers and wheel from Veng and the bumper fits great. No extra seam at all. My buddies TL has two bumpers and they fit like junk.

I talked to the body shop before hand and basically he said that he'll try to get the brand new OEM Honda parts. Basically on the record with the insurance company I stated that I wanted "no salvage, reconditioned, or aftermarket parts" on the vehicle. This being due to the fact that the resale value of the car went down because not all the body panels will have a matching VIN indicating they have been replaced. If cheap parts are used, the drives down the value of the car even more, and their reponsiblity is to return my car to the state it was before. I haven't received a call back from Farmers yet about it.

So we'll see what happens with the shop and hopefully I get brand new genuine Honda Parts. Does anyone know where the stamp is on the bumper/fender itself? Or is it just going to be just eyeballing and hoping that everything fits well?

Some body shops only use original OEM parts (ie. Honda OEM). I know the one I had my car worked on did.

and some bodyshops give you cost for Honda OEM parts(genuine), and then they go on ebay looking for cheap used parts.

Thats what happened to my previous car when it was crashed and fixed.
