im planning on getting some coilovers insted of a lowering spring, i was going to upgrade from 17x7.5 wheels to 18x7.5 but im going to stick with 17's. Any ways i wanna get the ground controls. I dont wanna bounce alot. what rate should i get?? and springs will most likely be illuminas or kyb agx. sometimes i carry people in the back and im wondering if more passengers in the car will make me bounce more, i want something similar to stock. I realy dont understand spring rates at all so i will need help
The BEST answer is to call Ground Control and talk to them. They actually answer questions with good info. The spring rates start at 380F/250R and those are considered a bit on the softer side-but still firmer than stock. The shocks you select will have a great deal to do with how the car feels on the road. We use nothing other than Koni shocks because they are designed and work with most street spring rates very well. I've also been a loyal customer of theirs for many years-with different cars.
As far as ride quality is concerned, you will also find that your wheel and tire choice will affect things. 17x7 is a good choice for the street, while 17x7.5 is an alternative that is workable. Remember that the less sidewall the harsher the ride.
Our car-for sale- has 16.7 rims and for me that is a great choice for the car's handling and cruising on the highway.

thanks alot.. also will the shocks im going with be a good choice???
I must admit that I have no personal experience with them. I have been told by several people locally that they have had some luck with the Illuminas and AGX. The problem as I see it is that they were not designed for the sort of spring rates that many people use and thus fail to do the job properly. At least the Koni shocks are fully serviceable in Kentucky by a team of very knowledgeable folks. They have also worked closely with GC for fitment. Just my humble experience.

I think that you would like the off the shelf GC's. THat is what i have with AYB AGX and i LOVE this setup. I drive the car everyday. The only time that i can really tell that i have aftermarket suspension is when i hit a HUGE pothole or like a "dip" in the road. I have had them on the car for over a year now and not a problem. I auto-x with the car a fair amount and they work very well.

do you get alot of bouncing on pot holes?? also what are your'e spring rates and what do you have your agx's set at??
Agx's are set a full soft arround town and full stiff when autoxing.

I just got the default spring rates they gave me when you ask for hte lude application. I paired them with KYB AGX struts, that combination is awesome, firm but not uncomfortable, handles amazing

i also orderd the regular spring rates, gc told me that is what they recomend for a daily driver street car. I saw the agx's are cheaper but i cant decide between tokico's and kyb's since ive never had any, hopefluly people with these shocks/struts give me input. By the way do you adjust the agx's through the top like the illuminas or do you have to take the tire off and use your hand in there??
i think KYB's are more popular than the illuminas. personally i'd shell out the extra hundred for konis. these are, by and far the best shocks for the lude. I'm on 450/550 springs on my GC setup w/ koni yellows and at full soft the car is totally fine for daily driving. LA roads aren't that bad either.

just got my agx's today, i am waiting for the gc coilovers to install all at once. I have one question tho, i notice that on one of the rears the color and numbers on the adjusters are chipped away. Is there any other way i can tell what the settings are at besides the color and numers on top???

Not that I know of. Maybe you can get a new sticker from KYB.
