Gas Tank Floater

I have a 1999 SS Prelude, my gas gauge is not working. It will only go up 2 bars, I think the floater is stuck. Is there a way I can get to the floater without dropping the tank?

I also have another question, after reading all of this stuff about the SS preludes crapping out, how can I check the transmission? will it have a date anywhere. I have 150k miles on the car and have no idea about the tranny.

SS does not equal automatic it equals **** shift. A **** shift is not good and my dear god it will cost you thousands to repair if **** shift fails. I suggest you not drop the tank or anything like that I suggest you go to a mechanic.

ok, I can't figure this thing out, this manual is annoying and crappy, can someone tell me how to test the gauge so I can know if its the floater, the gauge, or a sensor, or the floater. Just need some tests to do.

No dropping of the tank is necessary. You can access the fuel pump, floater, and sock filter from the trunk. Remove the board covering the spare tire and you will see a metal plate bolted to the floor. That is for access to the fuel pump and related parts.
