Gas Milage

Hey everybody,

I was wondering what people got for gas milage? i get around 17 or so. I have only had the car for a month and a half, but I expected it to be higher? My car does have 90,000 miles, but i still would expect it to be higher. Someone suggested that i might have a dirty manifold or somthin . . . i was just wondering what other people got.

Thanks

-Teal

I live in a major city-type area (Jersey city) and I usually get 22-25 mpg. I tend to have a heavy foot as well, especially on the highway, but if I'm conservative, I can usually get almost 30 mpg on the highway.

Have you ever done a tune-up? I would do this first:

1) Find out if the car has ever had a tune-up (Plugs, Wires,
Cap/Rotor) and if it hasn't, do it.
2) Run some injector cleaner through the car a couple tanks in a
row.
3) Your using premium gas, correct? Thats all your supposed to
use, though I'm not sure this would affect gas mileage as
much as your stating.
4) Check your fuel filter. If necessary, replace it.

i got da same problem with mines. 12 gallons i will get 200-220 miles MAX. so far ive changed cap and rotor, and spark plugs, and will be changing spark plug wires next. After that i will see about O2 censors and fuel filter. The dealer quoted me $80 for a bad milege check. Pretty damn expensive

I get at least 300 miles on mine and still have some to spare. I normally get 23-25mpg in city driving with some vtec action every now and then

I managed 38.9 mpg once.

See my fuel economy chart for fluctuations over time.

If you want quite a few instant responses, go to the thread I posted a while back.

I usually get around 20-25mpg...combination of both highway and local driving. I like to drive with a heavy foot sometimes though.

With a somewhat heavy foot on the highway, due to the amount of construction, large cities, and nasty traffic snarls along I35...and I average about 27mpg.

With clear traffic, no high-speed runs, and the cruise set to 80mph I can almost pull a steady 29

On the interstate with steady cruise control I can pull around 28-29 regardless of the speed. Doesn't seem to matter if I go 60 or 80 the mileage is about the same. VTEC can make the gas gauge drop quickly though.

I'm getting around 19 to 23 mpg. How are you all calculating your mpg's? The way I do it is I have the car filled up, set the counter to zero. Drive. A week or so later when the car is near empty, fill up again and take the reading off of the counter thingie. Divide those two numbers and that gives me my mpg. I never top off though. Whenever the gas nozzle thing clicks is when I stop.
