Gas Gauge f'd up

Another indiglo nightmare. The gas gauge on the prelude Im buying is completely off. It only goes to 1/2 tank when you fill up. I have a brand new gas, speedo, odo cluster; but Im hoping I wont have to replace it, this would be a pain.

Aside from filling the tank up and manually re-positioning the gas needle to where I think it should go, do I have any other options here ?

thanks

is the overlay (the indiglo) rubbing the needle at a certain point if so this will prevent it from moving.

Nah it's really easy. I could meet you after work and do it for you if you wanted.

Im sure its easy, I just dont want to reset the odometer back to 0. When I need to sell I could see this being an issue.

speedy- the needles dont touch the gauge overlays, the original owner just moved the needle when the cluster was off the car.

Im pretty sure that the gas gauge is part of the odo/speedo/gas cluster, dont think that you can isolate one piece; but not 100% because I dont have this part yet. Picking the car and this piece up tonight.

djmugen - I'll probably end up doing this since I dont want to pay Honda to fix it.

I would think calibration on the fuel gauge would be simple... like you said.. fill it up, and put the needle on F

I just filled up but I'm waiting for the needle to go all the way up.

But normally when I top it off (when it won't hold anymore, even a drop) it ends up right at the F line, so I would put it there.

someone put indiglos on mine before I got it, and I'm thinking they removed the gas needle. It doesn't bother me, but it went right up to the full line topped off. It does however go way down before the light comes on. Either way I just look at the milleage and how hard I've been driving it, at 300 miles is when I start to fill up.
