Fuel pump kill switch..?

Can i just cut the main power wire for the fuel pump, extend both ends with like 5 feet of 18 gauge wire and then solder the 18g wire to a switch? or do i need relays or anything else that makes it more complicated?lol

I researched alittle and found the fuel pump power wire is yellow and i can find it somewhere by the passengers feet, but could i just pick up the bac seats and find the wire from there?

you know what man, i dont see why you couldnt just have an added switch in the electrical line,(i am not an electornic engineer so i may be wrong). try it and if it works you have your answer and if it doesnt then return the work to the oem status and continue on.

It sure as hell beats begging on this forum to get some help.

You could put a switch on it if you want, but by making the location of your kill switch public knowledge.....that kinda defeats the purpose.

I have a 89 2.0si and 2000 sh and on the old 89 I just ran a wire straight from the battery back to the fuel pump with a killswitch mounted in the dash. ten or fifteen bucks at the local hardware store. It works great but if it sits on too long (prolly anything past a couple hours) it gets kinda hot. But **** it works so whatev. I figure if you wire a little relay on there it would be fine no matter what as long as you dont forget to turn it off. Then ur battery is gone

Yes you can wire a kill switch like this. You can also pull the fuse that controls the pump and take that with you

Uh, so your fuel pump is wired directly to the battery? Wow.

I had a kill switch on my 98 camaro, just because I liked to leave the T tops off. it really just broke the connection to the starter and redirected it to the horn so basically even if you have the ignition key, it the switch wasnt on it would honk the horn instead of starting the engine. I eventually removed the switch and wired it to the cigarette lighter as I dont smoke, so then you just had to push the cigarette lighter in and start the car.
