I'd trust the helm.

I'd also take notice of the first paragraph about the filter.

So i'm assuming you've already measured the pressure

Do you have a reason for replacing it? I believe marcucci said unless there is fuel contamination, replacement of the fuel filter is not necessary. I'm sure it can't hurt, but just wondering.

Yes it is a DIY, but also a pain in the ass. Mainly cause of its location. The top bolt is not to difficult, but getting the bottom is. You have such a small space to fit one hand and a wrench, nevermind getting enough leverage on it to break the bolt.

Just like any filter it will over time by doing its job, will deteriate/clog and will need to be replaced. I know the fuel that we pump is preped and whatnot, but deteriation over time is inevitable.

Which is what i think the helm is talking about. The fuel pressure dropping is the only reason to change it. As, the failing part of the system is the fuel pump, before its the fuel filter, atleast.

As for tools-you WILL need a Crowfoot wrench and a very long extension to do it correctly. The fact is that many Honda tech's do not recommend replacing the filter unless there is a known issue with the fuel as to contamination or the car has really high mileage (way over 100K).

I just changed mine last month, and damn its a pain in the ass to change. The only problem I'm having now, is that my car smells like gas still. I think it has to do with the bolt, cause I may need to loosen it up a little, cause I see moister on the filter still. I've just been kinda lazy

Yeah i heard of there being a tool for that also. I'd much rather put in some work with a wrench than pay $50 for a one-time use tool.

Go look at it and say that again. Its simply out of reach. Atleast in my SH. The Pan and fw cover it from the bottom and its so far down you cant reach it.

Yeah i'll go ahead and give it a look. That's just my philosophy since most of the time i'm too broke to buy stuff. Depending on how much the tool costs determines if i want it...
Do you know of any of the other uses?

If you car smells like gas a month later you have a fuel leak. Don't play around with that, I have seen more than one engine fire caused by that.

The filter is a PITA to change and it's a "lifetime" filter that is not part of scheduled maintenence, as far as honda is concerned. As mentioned don't bother changing it unless you REALLY need to. Trust me on this- you will regret the decision to change it.

IF you want a filter, PM me. I have I think 3 of them because people keep buying them for me to change and then change their mind.

Absolutely not.

They figured out a way to get you to pay more for a throw away filter. They say it is "reusable" but you can never get the containments out of the filter. Save the $$$, and buy an oem-equivilent.
