Front Tow Hook on a 5G????

Has anyone done this??? If so where did you mount it and how, pics would be awesome as well as well as brand or style of hook. I'm looking for something that looks pretty good. Has anybody tried BMW S2000 style pop out and thread in style?? After having 3 of the mounting clips broken on my OEM front lip during a flatbed tow I'm very interested in this. That was with the guy being extremely careful and towing it on concrete, i couldnt imagine if god forbid i needed towed out of an off track excursion.
Also why are tow hooks on the front always offset??? Wouldn't having it directly in the center distribute the weight better??? There's gotta be a reason, just wondering.
Thanks for any info you can give.

I have a NASA legal tow hook, but you'd probably think it's ugly.

Tow hooks are generally mounted close to the bumper mounting points because those are the strongest areas. You'd be surprised how much the bumper would flex if you were to install a tow hook directly in the middle.

Ahhhh that makes sense. So when getting pulled onto a flat bed someone should be in the car steering it straight then if you put the hook offset, or will it pull straight anyway??? I tried to get ideas at the NASA finals here in Ohio but it looked like all the Preluders were running braided steel line wrapped around their bumper beam.

Does Golden Eagle make a front tow hook for the 5th gen prelude or is it a universal one which would probably require modification or cutting the front bumper?

71dsp->Do you have any pic's of your NASA legal tow hook?

I'll take some pictures this weekend. You can barely see part of it sticking out of the driver's side turn signal/fog light opening in the bumper in my sig picture.

Here are the pictures of mine, as promised. Again, this is more functional, not for looks, so it's attached to the strongest area of the front end that's easily accessible from the front bumper area. The tow hook is welded to a mounting bracket that bolts to the main bumper mounting points, so it's very strong. I'm not sure where that guy mounted his tow hook, as everything in that area is just sheet metal, IIRC.

Keep in mind that this is a track car and it's hardly as "clean" as a street car. That bumper has seen its fair share of bumps and scrapes to say the least!!

How? Is it bolted or welded? Did her have to drill & tap holes in the bumper support?

By just bolting it to the front bumper support, is that even strong enough?
