mine does that when its cold outside for some reasion, my shocks are old thoe not that has anything to do with it but wait till you lower it and get aftermarket shocks LOL then youll hear some noises. Its ok i would not worry about it, next time you get your oil change have then spray some lithum grease on the rubber bushings and the shock will make that noise no matter but its ok and safe, if you was not driving a performance car you would not hear that but you are so youll hear it. When you change out the OEM tires youll also get more road noise as they wear.

hey br2819... I have exactly the same problem. I'm going to get my 72000 km service soon (1000km to go), and I'm compiling a "list of noises", and other things to look at when I bring it in. I hope it's just what WDW suggested... that the front rubber bushings need some oiling.

... it sounds like the front end is falling apart or something...

Anyway, I'll let you know the results after the service.

it should be, but theres also another noise when your parked and you turn the wheel from left to right youll hear a squeal noise its the power strearing pump and thats a suituation, ive got 70k on the dial now. Keep me informed also, as ive put my car on the rack and lubed up my bushing and it took care of 85% of the problem i might have to get some lube under where its rubbing against the metal. The powerstearing thing im clueless on ive check and tested and it might just be the pump going bad ($$$$$ouch$$$$).

Mine does that too. Excactly like a bed when you sit on it.

I've been to Honda at least 3 times about it. Not that I blame them or anything, but the noise is still there.

My car also makes a croaking noise sometimes when I brake. The front of my car dips on braking and on its way back, "Croak..." Honda tried lubing the rollbars or something like that, but obviously it hasn't worked.

One noise they did fix was a clunking noise coming from my rear passenger side whenever I hit a bump. They replaced the struts and it's sooo nice now. No noise.

One other noise I hope was fixed is my clutch. On some inclines, my clutch would make a screaching/moaning noise when accelerating from a stop. I had them look into it and they found that my master cylinder had a leak. Hopefully, replacing that part fixed it.

what year is your lude? if it was a 97 or 98, i think you got taken with that rear "clunk" noise. that was probably just a broken stabilizer joint. i seriously doubt you had to replace the struts. it was a common problem with the 5th gen preludes a while ago. how many miles do you have on your car?

and about that noise in the front that eveyrone's talkin about, have them check for a cracked lower ball joint. not sayin this is the problem but it very well could be.

it also thumps when i make turns and acelerate. isn't th lower ball joint the part that got recalled? i know i went in for something to be replaced in the suspension that holds it together or something.

Mines a 2K, now with 33k miles. I think I still kinda hear a thunk though. I've also read somewhere that the Prelude didn't have enough bushing on the struts. That may be the real cause of the noise and it's quieter now because the struts are new. I just hope the noise is gone forever.

Anway, my car is still under warranty so I didn't get ripped off or anything.

i heard getting new bushing helps... if you have after market shocks, try to get shock boots, it will prevent the shock from being TOO dry when it's cold. and i don't think putting wd-40 is any good idea...

This is actually not the sway bar bushings. I recently upgraded to Suspension techniques sway bars, so they have been freshly lubed. I also had the ball joint recall done last month and that did nothing either.

This is also a reoccurign thread, so try a search under the word "creaking noises"...a member talked about how he just lubed the window tracks and door handles and was able to rid himself of the noise.

I know it is frustrating, but I am going to try this rememedy soon when the weather warms up.

If the squawk occurs when both wheels jounce and rebound at the SAME time, such as a speedbump, 99% of the time it is the center sway bar bushings, NOT the end links.

reply to joew :37k miles on a 98 lude with koni yellows/neuspeed sport springs and I just started getting the squeaking noise this winter going over the speedbumps at school.

Ive had this problem with my 94sentra SE-r, its like that with most performance cars, its the gas shocks there not really ment to be going over speed bumps. My factory shocks on the prelude are not as loud as the konis and ground controls on the sentra. It is what it is.
