Few stupid questions...

Hey I need some easy help here. First, what color is the stock color of black for a 98 lude, and how much oil do I put in when changing the oil. I know they are stupid, but i need to know. Thanks!

How much oil do you put in? 5 quarts should be good.

4 quarts is a bad idea- running hard or in VTEC much might produce some oil starvation. Especially if any time passes and the engine burns oil, which most H22's will (some).

Correct me if I am wrong, but when you change the oil filter, you have to put 5.5 qt's of oil, if you are not changing the oil filter, then only 4.5 qt's. That is what my owners manual says for my '98.

I'm sure that's what the manual says, but why would anyone not change their filter.
I haven't had a chance to change the oil on my new 5th gen. But with my 4th gen I simply would put 4 in and wait for it to settle while I cleaned up after the oil change. Then I'd check the level on the dip stick and top it off.

honda says that they're filters only have to be changed every 7500 miles and oil at 3000, that is why you don't put 5.5 qt's in each time, unless you change your filter at 3000 with your oil.

That's good to know, so you change the filter every other oil change in essence, provided that you use a Honda filter?

That's what I thought. I always changed my filter with my oil, but this is my first Honda so I thought it would maybe be different. The whole 3000 miles thing is dependent on how you drive and stuff. I usually do 4000 or 5000. I don't drive very hard or in extreme conditions.
