A few questions about suspension

im in the market for new suspension b/c the person who I bought my car from put those crappy coilovers on it and the struts are bad, I dont have much money, but I dont want to buy some crappy suspension. I was thinking of buying some Tokico struts and springs, since they are about $300 cheaper than Konis, but Im not sure if they are a good brand or not. any suggestions?

also I have a few other questions

which is better for cornering coilovers or springs? I want to go fast
what is the stock 5th gen ride hight? If I get springs I would like to know this so I can figure out how much of a drop I want. I bought it already lowered and its about 5 1/2" off the ground.

Yep, taking a driving class will ad more speed than tires, suspension, or engine upgrades.

The standard for the Prelude is the Koni yellow + Ground control coil overs. Many threads on this if you do some searching.

If not these then what do you suggest. I'm looking right now at some Tein Type FLEX Coilovers. Might go with them unless suggested otherwise.

Well most people agree that aside from true purpose built racing suspension the Koni/Ground Control setup is the best. However, a properly tuned Bilstein is also a darn good alternative. The only draw back is that the Bilstein's are not externally adjustable, however rebuilt shops are plentiful and custom spec rebuilds are fairly cheap so Bilstein's would be another way to go. The reason I don't like Tein is their suspension (springs rates, and damper construction) is not designed very well, or at least, not designed to extract a large amount of increased handling. Tein makes decent stuff compared to all the other stuff out there, but it's still decent and the amount of potential one can extract from tuning it is very little. The reason for this is the "compression/rebound" adjuster. In a shock these are two separate force that should be tuned separately, otherwise the two will never be properly synced. It's better than Tokico's stuff but still has the same style of adjustment which begs the question, why not spend a bit less money and get a setup that works better?
