Few Problems here!

I haven't been on in a while been busy at work ..... Anyway i got quite a few problems here haha! Car leaks/burns ALL oil in between oil changes! Oh yea its a 1997 with 180,000. I noticed on one side of the motor looks like oil is leaking heavily from what appears to be either the valve cover gasket or cam seal plug (plan on getting a skunk2 plug this week). Just replaced the halfshaft last week thought my tire was going to fall off when i accelerated! I posted up before about my cars lights interior and exterior lights pulsating or "flickering" never could figure that out! Now my throw out bearing is chirping like a cricket (sound goes away as soon as the clutch is engaged)! And something else is chirping too all the time not just when i let out the clutch. Hmmmm any help guys?

Check out "The Official Oil Leak Guide" over at PreludePower. Great info for fixing oil leaks.

No need in a guide, just common sense.

Take it to a detail place and let them pressure wash the engine til it sparkles.

Run it for a day

Pop the hood and look for leaks.

Start from the top and work your way down, don't assume something on the bottom is leaking just because oil is in your driveway or you see it on the pan when changing the oil.

Buy only OEM seals, aftermarket are junk and a total waste of money, also get a tube of Permatex Ultra Grey as it's the Honda Bond substitute which is needed in some cases.

Ohhhh yes lots of work! Thats why i love Honda!!!! Plenty to do and cheap cheap parts! Tomorrow I am replacing both vtec solenoid gaskets, head cover gasket, cam seal plug, distributor O ring, anti fouler trick for o2 sensor, and last but not least changing the tranny fluid! Then i will clean the engine off and watch for any missed leaks! Still cant figure out the dang pulsating light thing! Kind of annoying but its whatever! Gotta admit i have fallen for my Lude! Before this car i had a 1993 Samba Green Del Sol god that was a beauty! I saw this car on CL and was like hmmm i dont think i would look right in a Lude..... Went and drove it and my god i got a stiffy when i took off! I love this car!!! Not in as great of shape as the del sol was but im slowly getting their! I think i am going to stick with OEM exhaust though its got a nice deep tone when i get on it!

I have not assumed anything. Their is no oil in my driveway. Its all on the passenger side of the motor and a cute puddle on top of the tranny!

P.S. Are you saying aftermarket cam seals(Skunk2,Blox,etc.) are crap? If so why? I have heard nothing but praises comming from those brand seals.

The metal cam seals are good, I was referring to stuff bought at local auto parts stores.

Here is a little update of what I am doing tonight. I will be changing the tranny fluid, distributor O ring, both vtec gaskets, cam plug, and valve cover gasket. I also picked up a new clutch pedal pad from Honda while i was there for $6!!!!!! No more wet foot slip! I also got the RTV grey gasket maker! Everything was purchased at Honda! Have i mentioned i love Honda? maybe so! Anyway that link that was posted earlier for "the official oil leak guide" is a very useful resource to people like me who have not done this stuff and have heavy oil leakage!

Can someone tell me what this lude has in the grille and the fog light spot? Scroll down to the blue lude it has a silver insert for the grille and fog light spots? Is it just painted like that or a aftermarket part?

For anyone else interested here is the link to VIS racing very nice replica. You will have to fabricate to get the signals and fogs to fit and make your own mounting brackets for them as well though. (People on PP say you have to cut the holes for the lights and signals.) and you lose the side markers as well.

Alright question time!!! When i change the dizzy O ring do i need to recheck the timing. Helms manual states there is no way to adjust the timing. So if i put the distributor back on without turning the dizzy or the cam we should be good right?

Yes, only on an OBD1 car can you adjust the ignition timing manually by rotating the distributor.

Dunno where your 8th bolt came from but there are only 7 holding down the valve cover, 4 on the outside, 2 in the spark plug recess and 1 next to the cam gears where the alternator cable covers.

Ok i found it. There are 8 bolts holding it down. 2 in the front, 2 in the middle, 2 on the cam side under that black thing that runs from the alternator over the valve cover, and 2 in the back. Got everything done last night and boy oh boy that was a job! Everything took about 6 hours if you take out the hour i spent looking for the grommet!
