Same probs, 2000 base, 1st is a ***** to get into sometimes from dead stop, 1-2 grinds like the clutch isn't in when it's below zero outside. Of course, Honda says that it's perfectly normal. I got them to write that down for me, and if those syncros fail I'm going to be out in front of the dealer with a picket sign. I'll get pictures. Hahaha.

Of course, other days, it runs smooth as butter. Those days aren't very frequent.

Odds of getting honda to deal with this on a discontinued car are slim to none. If I go JRSC, it won't matter anyhow. Save for a new tranny, I guess. Go honda!

(I'm busy hoping I done munge my OEM kit)

Steve

I've had that happen too, but not just on 2nd.

I've also had 1st and Reverse lockouts and I have to jimmy the stick while in neutral to get it in.

I always thought the lude's stick was was gated, and the gates were locking me out. What do you guys think about that?

Got the same problems too but every manual I've ever driven has done the same thing.

2001 Type SH with 7900 miles...

I haven't driven it hard yet...haven't hit VTEC yet. It lightly grinds when upshifting into 2nd gear when it is cold. I haven't had any problems with grinding in any other gears. No lock outs in first or reverse yet.

The 2nd gear grinding has been there from the beginning.

I haven't taken it to the dealer yet. I'm afraid they will take the tranny apart and create other problems.

I don't drive the car every day. It mostly sits in a garage, except when the weather is nice.
