In the straight line, most car magazines and real world tests by owners here have concluded that the base is a bit quicker (being a tad lighter). BUT, I believe that the SH may be a bit faster at the autocross.

Anytime cars are with 1/10th of a second 0-60 or 1/4 mile, it really comes down to the driver anyway.

I raced my friend in his '98 SH last night...I drive '98 base..we both had a passenger and hit it i second gear.. Someone pulled ahead of him in early 3rd so he had to shut it down, but we were pretty much dead even and both shifting @8k

We'll do more tests don't worry

Isnt it also true that the ATTS sapps power to the wheels? So that means that although both cars are rated the same at the crank the base is actually putting down more to the wheels.

no, it's not a limited slip differential.

Yeah, these cars are pretty much dead even from the factory in straight line speed. I actually feel that 4-5hp drain from the SH's ATTS is the major contributing factor to the (if any) difference in acceleration. The ATTS's added 70lbs of dead weight might make a world of difference on a small car like a Miata. But on an already obese car like the Prelude, an added 70lbs is nothing, and shouldn't hinder acceleration at all.
