Does a Honda Dealership actually warantee or gaurantee their work? How about the alignement? I just do NOT trust these jerkoffs playing fast n furious at the local shops.
What do you guys think?
Am I paranoid? Or is the extra 100 worth it for the piece of mind?
Not sure if Honda will do it for you and if they do, what waranty will they provide for their work? None I belive
As to can you do it right? Y E S. Unless you are a complete idiot that puts the front struts in the back or the other way around.... then do not try.
The fronts will not go on the back... and each strut is labeled left and right.. almost idiot proof.
Most places that will put on aftermarket parts for you DO NOT waranty their work anyway.. so why are you paying that much.. what peace of mind will you get?
Having all your work done by shops will only lead to one thing.. at some point when something fails.. you will never figure it out as you never worked on it.....
Thats just my opinions... If you can spare the $$$ without thinking twice.. then go for it.

I paid $250 to have my springs and Konis installed, to me it's worth the extra money to have a good shop do it. To all those complaining there is something called the book time to install stuff.
maybe i'm just lucky, but my dad is a retired mechanic and has everything we need. He's the owner of a Strut Compressor distribution Co. IMO, 200 for peace of mind is worth it for heavy work like FI. But for bolt-on-ish stuff, u can use that 200 towards something else. But if you think a "screwdriver" is only a mixed drink... then its an option.
Originally posted by LuDeS no, not really an option for me... i dont have the jack stands, tools, and I am not that mechanically inclined... i think i could probably install the rear sway but for $20 my time is worth more to me... someone should open a shop and advertise it on all these honda/import boards offering to beat any competitors install prices... that shop would make a killing...
That shop would be called my house. ImagePree's, THATPRELUDEGUY's, muncher's, TripHop's and my own car have all been worked on in my garage. Catch me at a good time and maybe I'll teach you how to do this stuff.
But if you need this stuff in RIGHT NOW I guess paying some other guy is your only choice.

Yup. I just figured since the install wasn't too expensive, I'd save that card for a later time when I needed something else installed. So, how about a standalone install and tune, if I ever finally choose one.

Originally posted by ntr100 I just emailed ECP to ask for a quote for a koni/neuspeed setup. Do you guys know if this place is reputable?
yeah the owner as far as I can tell is honest and fair with his prices compared to other shops in the area... and as far as quality of work if you're getting only springs and shocks installed dont worry about it... its and easy install...

My Honda dealer is super competitive. They charge the lower of book rate or $60/hour. The local shops charge between $40 and $60 and you wait for hours on end while they do stereo instead of you.
Either way I've paid about the same and then had to go for an alignment elsewhere. The little backyard guy charges less, does great work usually, but doesn't do it at your convenience. Anyway, I am comfortable having my dealer (with new laser alignment machine) do the work. It really depends on who the tech is and how the dealership treats you versus other places. Is $200 too high-NO actually. Would I do it myself-sure if I had a ball joint press to do the camber kits for the front. Just my opinion

Can somebody in NJ tell me where i can get an alignment for a lowered car?? I went to the honda and chevy dealership. Went to pepboys and they told me something about needing spring/shocks specs before they can align it?? help?
Go to a bank machine, withdraw the $200 and go to either a dealership (rip off, but good chance things will be done semi-right) or a certified CHAIN store. As someone else said, DON'T go to one of those "Pimp your Car" places! Those 16-year old pimple punk asses will **** you something fierce. Same with all the Rice-a-roni shops.
And don't listen to dumbasses who are coercing you to try doing it yourself. You've made the right decision to get it done right, by someone at least a little more experienced. Just because I can fix my lude or some other dope can, doesn't mean you have to. Why **** a $20,000 car over a $200 bill? Suspensions parts are all that keeps you on the road. All suspension work is precision work with torqueing involved etc. Find a reputable shop and party on!
