I went thru all of that last week. I used a vice-grips to loosen up the piston (turned about half a turn) and then a big screwdriver from there. Couldn't find the tool at Advance Auto or Discount or wherever it was I tried. The dude behind the counter was like "Use a C-Clamp" and I was like "Whatever".

At least you didn't force the piston back in by pressing with a c clamp. If you do, you kill the caliper.
