Exhaust Cat Question

Alright I'm just starting to enter the mechanic/tuning/modding realm and already I feel like a retard for asking this but... any catback exhaust system you buy, doesn't it come with a replacement cat? Or is it called catback because it bolts to the cat? Cuz I got a 97 base Lude and was thinking bout getting the Evo2 system and read where alot of ppl talk bout getting high flow cats or test pipes when they get which ever catback system they decide to get and I just thought it seemed weird to do that is the system did come with a replacement piece. I also have a 95 GSX Eclipse but I have an apexi N1 turbo back on it which has a flex pipe the elimates the cat, which is why I thought the systems either elimated the cats or came with its own upgraded piece itself. I wont feel bad is anyone decides to hate, I prolly deserve it for not known this already :\

An aftermarket catback exhaust consists of everything after the catalytic converter back to the muffler, hence the name "catback". They do not include a new cat.
