Euro-r swap question

I've been searching for the answer to these questions and have only found conflicting answers.

I recently spun a bearing in my 99 prelude base 5spd and was planning on getting a euro-r h22a complete change over.

I was planning on using my usdm harness w/ a OBD2b jumper harness to run the euro-r ecu. If i do that can i leave the jdm distributor and oil pump and just add the wires to my stock harness? or would i just be better off using my stock ecu and changing out the dist and oil pump for usdm verisons? and would a base model ecu be able to safely run an engine with higher compression?

If I use the usdm ecu, I have heard that jdm engines come without EGR? if so do they still have the proper mounting points and ect to accept a usdm egr?

One way or another i am planning on staying OBD2 since it is a daily driver and i have to go through emission scans every year

Thanks in advance for any help and advice

Use your old distributor, change the oil pump, new OEM would be best and change every belt/ seal you can while the engine is out so you won't have to worry about any of that for a VERY long time.

It will have EGR, I have a Euro R IM on my OBD1 JDM H22a and I can assure you that it's all there except mine is blocked.

The USDM ecu should be able to run it fine since after doing a Type S swap the kid we did it for used the USDM ecu and as far as I know it runs fine, performance may not be at top notch though.

Reason why it's better to change parts is because hacking into your wiring harness can just cause trouble down the road.

Also be aware that the Euro R comes with electronic PS so there will be no PS pump or bracket included so you'll have to add that, your crank pulley and VSS from your old.

The gearbox that comes with that engine is awesome btw.

I never said it was a smart swap, the only things that MAYBE make it worth getting is the IM and T2W4. As you can see I chose not to get it since I wanted to eventually build the engine and the R will perform no better with aftermarket cams or pistons than the black top engine would. I just got lucky and got the gearbox from someone who blew the R up right after swapping.
