Did you put in a 60/40 mix of antifreeze/water?

Just dumping a jug of Prestone into the tank or rad isn't going to help cool the engine.

Is the radiator still full? If not, then you might have a leak either at the coolant tube you removed and put back or at the radiator between the top plastic and the bottom radiator section.

If full, is the fan all hooked up and turning? How many miles on the engine? Time for a new thermostat?
