engine noise

i have 97 prelude and it has a tapping sound that is faint at times but loud at times coming from the topend or at least it seems like it to me seems worse when its hot i had timing belt, water pump an valves ck an adjusted the mechanic said it all looks good but the noise is annoying as heck i also got some codes from the cel an it does idle real low at a stop with the air on as well the codes were 67 23 and 8 car seems to run just fine otherwise my wife said it occasionally feels like it will lose power for a split second or so as well any help would be great i am in south carolina any honda gurus that may be close by to take a look at it the wife loves the car but i am gonna sell it if i dont get the noise out the rest i can live with just thought about it i replaced the hyd timing belt tensioner as well as the balance shaft belt too

It sounds like your ignition system has a faulty component in it. I would pull/test function of your Camshaft position sensor and distributor and also check to make sure your timing is correct and that your timing belt components are in excellent condition.

I'd also stop driving the car until you do so. Sounds like you could be doing some good damage to your engine.
