Engine hesitation - Honda Prelude Forum

97 base prelude with 120,000~mi. Has a power hesitation that happens around 2k-3k(RPM). I can hold the throttle steady and it will run up to about 3k and almost feels like it hit vtec without the sound. Doesnt happen all the time and i cant replicate it consitently. Anytime it does happen its usually cold engine but is not restricted to cold. I was thinking o2 sensor or ignition problems. Neither of these fixes are cheap though. So if someone has the same symptoms and happens to know the source i would appreciate any tips.

02 sensor is not that expensive. You can get Denso parts which are oem for $40 a piece? And then just cut and splice the wires yourself. Ignition is probably a bit pricy.

I just went through troubleshooting engine hesitation on my 5g with 118k miles. For me it ended up being the TPS sensor. Check my thread for a list of other possibilities!
