Eibach Pro-kits Review

hey luders,

I just got my Eibach Pro-kits installed yesterday. I thought i'd post my reaction since when i was deciding between springs, i could not find any. So hopefully this helps somebody out . The drop is nice, not too low, but its not as low as i'd like it. My Greddy PE exhaust does not scrape, and i do not need to go over speed bumps diagonally. No bounce so far (on stock shocks), has an even drop, improved handling, and the steering wheel has no major alignment problems.

Installation:
First off all, get your hands on some food and maybe a heater. It was freezing cold when i was working on it. The fronts were relatively easy. I followed the instructions on ntpog.org. I had a few friends help me out, but most of the time only 2 people were working on 1 strut at a time. A spring compressor was handy. Make sure you use something like craftsman for your tools, i made the mistake of using taiwan made allen (spelling) wrench and it snapped on me. The rears were more difficult. The passenger side rear was way easier than the driver side rear, because the passenger side did not require a pittsman arm puller. Also, the driver side had the brake lines with interfered a lot!! The passanger side rear took 2 hours, and the driver side took 6 >_<. The driver side wheel had to be pushed down by 2 people in order to get the fork of the strut onto the arm. And..the freakin spring compressor froze on me when i was trying to loosen and take it out, so i had to cut it in 1/2. To me, i think if you do not have time and are not physically inclined, pay the $$ to get it installed by the pros.
total time: 10 hours . estimated time from ntpog: ~2.5 hours

Ride and Look:
The ride is great so far. No bounce once so ever. I am riding on stock shocks until i can buy aftermarket. If i do straight onto a speed bump, slowly of course hehe, does not scrape anywhere. The Greddy PE supposidly hangs low, but with the pro-kits its perfect. The drop is even, 2 1/2 finger gap in front, 2 finger gap in rear. It looks good. This is how it should look off the factory. If i could choose again, however, i would have gotten different springs such as Eibach Sportlines or Neuspeed Race Springs, just for the lower drop. Maybe when i get some 17s, i might like the pro-kits more hehe.

Pics will be posted as soon as possible, whenever i can get my hand on a digi cam. sorry so long though, hope that helped somebody...happy luding.

Well, it sounds like he had a lot of problems with his tools. The problems he had with installing the driver side rears happened to me too. The dam control arm wouldn't poop out so I somehow had to muscle the strut out of there. It took me 6-7 hours also (not including the lunch break, 2hours) First time actually doing anything major to my car and I loved it. Enjoy your new lowered stance man. Also, your car will gradually become lower as time goes on till it gets to a certain height. Don't worry it doesn't go much lower than it is right now though.

driver's side??? hmmmm, i had trouble with the passenger side cause the stupid muffler keps getting in the way. i didn't drop the control arms, just pushed the shock up and over it, while my friend pushed down on the bake to lower control arm. oh well point being you did it yourself and that is something to be proud of(especially when it works!)

I loved my ProKits, BUT they did progressively go lower than I wanted. Actually, for some reason, my passenger side front had dropped to 2" (NO finger gap, couldn't fit it in there) and all the rest had dropped to around 1.5-1.6" (a finger gap) after six months. I had my shocks tested and none of them were out.

I have heard from various people that the reason is because of my stock shocks. If I were you, I would put a couple of extra hours during the week at your job to get some aftermarket shocks. Just a suggestion. It looked kind of funny, but the ride did not change.

I've heard some people's ProKits drop to 2" all the way around...

Be careful

I would go on them a couple of miles (100) to let them settle, and then go to an alignment shop. That is a definate must.
