Hey everybody,
Just picked up my prelude wednesday of this week and I absolutely love it. The only problem is the check engine light is on. It runs like a champ but its throwing the egr code. I searched everywhere and it did all the things people say to do as far as cleaning and such. I cleaned it really good and soaked it in carb cleaner. It seemed to work well and the plunger and everything inside was working. The check engine light went off for about an hour and then came back on. I dont want to block the thing off, but is there anything else i can do before replacing the one i have?

Also, i keep hearing things about these being under warranty if theyre below 150k. Mine is at 140 and is a '99. can someone give me a clear answer as to whether i can get this fixed for free? cause i feel like ive looked everywhere and still havent found a clear answer.

You might have to clean the EGR Ports again. They might have been so clogged that 1 cleaning wasn't enough. Is it running rich or lean beacuse this could also cause things to clog up.

egr valve is ok.....try cleaning the runners on the intake. can get the plugs at honda theyre cheap. pull the plugs on the intake runners(brass plugs below the fule rail) and clean with a pipe cleaner and replace with new plugs. i pulled the whole intake mani off and soaked it to really get it completely cleaned up. egr port plugs
