Easiest way to clean CAI filter

I was just wondering how people with CAI were getting to the filter to recharge it? I know the hard way was to remove the front bumper but I was wondering if there was anyway to get to it through the wheel well w/o taking off the front bumper...

I just peel back the wheel-well liner guard and then unscrew the filter. The use the K&N filter recharger kit...its really easy to clean it with that stuff and it makes your filter seem brand new

You shouldn't need to take off your bumper to get to the filter.

what is involved in recharding the filter? Is this something that needs to be done often? how often? sorry if this has been discussed before, but I've never heard anything bout this.

just buy the k&n air filter recharge kit from PEP BOYS for $10 and i was told to recharge around every 15,000 miles... recharging helps clean up the airflow through your filter.

i tried both the taking off bumper way and just pulling back the wheel wall way. to be honest, taking off the bumper was much easier. less effort and scratches on your arms and hands too. its not hard to find all the bolts for the wheel wall. its just that the black plastic wall is VERY stiff so alot of effort is needed to keep it open and large enough to pull that huge k&n filter out. so if u try, u probably already got all the bolts and stuff off already but need to pull harder. im away from my car till the weekend so i cant look at it at the moment...

man, take of the bumper! Are you nuts? One or two bolts in the wheelwell, then three or four underneath the car on that corner, right below the filter. Pull down the plastic to get it out of the way, take the filter out from below the car. Piece of cake!

There are about 5 or 6 small bolts holding the front splash/stone guard up to the bumper cover. That front plastic guard is what holds that piece of the wheel well up. Once you get half of the front one off, the wheel well part will simply fall down. If you have access to a Helms, it has a little diagram showing them all. Otherwise, just lie on your back and start taking off whatever small nuts you can see under there.
