was the car used or new when you bought it? maybe theres some engine work that you cant see if its used? i duno....but how much did the dyno cost? i wana do mine too and im from the bay. scan the charts when possible!

My understanding is that DSR is presently not doing any tuning right now. They are preparing to move to a new location. I'm actually surprised to here that they are still doing baselines, from what they had told me they were not running the dyno at all. Hrmph.

Are those numbers SAE horsepower/torque or Actual horsepower/torque.

Plots please...

Hi

I had my 2k1 black SH tuned at DSR after i bought my VAFC had AEM CAI/DC header/Greddy SP stock SH rims and got about 175.7hp at the wheels and 140.4lbft of tq I now have pulleys too. Two questions to the guy that ran 176/8 on his lude, do you have a base model?/ What kind of rim tre setup are you running??

How does a stock engine have diff powers than other stocks?

I understand that you can not build an engine exactly like that the last one. So is that the reason why some baseline powers are different then others. Is there an actual way to increase the chances of a stronger baseline power? Like breaking in more properly? Or is it mainly due to the luck of the lude owner? Ive always wanted to dyno mine (AEM CAI, Thermal R&D, AEM pullies)

Does anyone know what the STOCK 5G SS lude would dyno at? The average for 5sp ludes are about 160-165 right? I'm guessing the SS would be a bit lower cause of the auto tranny?

i have to ask. what does being a better driver have to do with laying down better numbers on a dyno?

anyway, what smoothing level did they use for the dyno?

truthfully 178whp isn't that surprising, mainly because of the VAFC. I have a dyno plot in front of me, and he's running a DC Sports Header, Tanabe DTM Exhaust, AEM Short Ram, Pulleys and a VAFC and surprising enough he laid down 178.2hp, and 138.5lb.ft. torque.

the vafc is good from a steady 8whp up top, and it will show amazing results if you lower vtec engagement point and compensate for the unmatched fuel correction. for an increment of about 1500 RPMs you'll see an increase of about 35whp. just picture a level hp line, as apposed to that almost vertical spike when vtec engaged before.

BTW, sorry about the post above, at first i didn't read into it enough so i was wondering why you mentioned being a good driver when he was talking about dynoing his car. i see the racing part now.

5spd dyno's Ive seen are close to 153-155hp, 5hp less then a 5spd, that isn't bad at all.

He didn't say he had a VAFC, he says he has "maxspeed muffler, aem intake, aem pulley's". I would like to see what gear the runs where done in and if numbers are SAE or not.

I doubt they are SAE. You know what's insane? I made 189 "actual" whp with just I/H/E! SAE was noticably less.

5spd dynos = 153-155? i don't think so, try 160-165. or did you mean, ss dynos are usually 153-155?

dynospot dyno runs are always printed out in SAE....in a very odd circumstance would they show them otherwise.

(i've dyno'd my car 40 times, and seen numerous other cars dyno and haven't seen them switch from SAE to anything else)
