dying sunroof motor

anyone have any idea how much work is involved with replacing the sunroof motor in a 97 prelude sh? mine seems to be struggling quite a bit to open and close lately.

might just need some lubing up. i haven't done this myself, but it doesn't seem too hard of a task to take apart and check on the motor or the cables.

Cleaning and relubing the rails worked great for me. Before doing that, the moonroof would struggle to open/close.

It's actually really easy.

Step 1: Close the moonroof. Find the black plastic strips on the left and right of the underside of moonroof glass. Remove the little screw cover in each strip. Then remove the 2 strips.

Step 2: Remove the 8 bolts holding the glass in place. Be aware of the shims (how many and where they go) so you can put them back in place.

Step 3: Pull glass out.

Step 4: Clean and relube the tracks with a good lithium grease.

Step 5: Reassemble.
