The rods in the door sound like they are bent or getting bound up somehow, take the inner door panel off and take a look, use the passenger door for comparison on how everything should move when pulling the handles and unlocking.

Sounds like the same prob I had with my driver door, rod going to the outside handle was bent.

I agree with minilogoguy18, pull the inner panel off so you can take a look. Look at the Helms and you'll see a "hidden" screw inside the plate where you pull the handle inside and one inside the armrest area. Also, pull the speaker covers (just clips) and the small cover over the outside side mirrors (also just clips). Take out the speakers and then there'll be 4 screws inside the speaker area to remove. Then it's a matter of pulling the panel away and watch out for the wiring harness connectors near the outside mirror and armrest. PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK ME ON THIS WITH THE HELMS. I just had to replace the electric actuator a few weeks back but i've slept since then.

You can see the rod that is probably bent or may just need adjusting running up to the outside handle. Oh and the inside handle rod may have come out at the actuator too.
Good luck.
