Does a 5th gen look bad with 17s and not lowered

This is my daily driver and only 7 month old, so I am still paying for it. I was not planning to lower it in the near future. I would like to maintain the good stock ride quality. Do you suggest going with 17s without lowering or getting aftermarket 16s with 225/45-16s?

How does the ride change with just 17s and say 215/40-17s wihout lowering?

Thanks.

With 17s the ride does not change but it just looks odd because the larger rims don't go with the height/wheel gap of the car. However, I don't recommend getting aftermarket 16s because that looks funny as well (unless you went with Spoon or something).

I suggest just getting 17s anyway...and lowering it when you finally see how funny it looks

yes you have to lower it. ludes are too high stock. 2 inch drop is perfect.

If you only change the springs you will keep the supple ride. Mine rides smooth with just the change to Eibach springs and keeping the standard shocks.

A slammed lude with base rims looks so much better than a stock-height lude with aftermarket rims

I agree, the prelude sits too high for a sporty car. Lower it first, then get wheels.

it will not look to bad, its all on what you like i had my 17s on there for about two weeks on stock suspenstion and i loved it and then i lowered it with tein HAs about 2-2.5 inch and now i looks slammed, i liked it both ways it was a little more fun to drive it before it was lowered. do what makes you the most happy and thats all that matters

Do what you think is best...everyone may say it looks better, but unless you drive in conditions that allow you to have a lowered car year round, you will be the only one paying the consequences.

I have a set of aftermarket 16" Kosei wheels with 225/46-16 tires, on stock suspension. The car sits low enough for me and no one has ever said that my car sits too high when they have seen it in person. The pictures don't do justice...and the best part is that i can survive potholes, steep driveways, snow, and ice. I am upgrading to 17" SSR wheels just because i have always loved the way they look, but if i were to lower my car, it would never be more than an inch, and the main reason would be to firm up the suspension, not the looks.

Make sure you get it right...

Our car's stock ride height is very very LOW!

Our wheel gap however is quite a bit...so its not the ride height...

Sit in the car, then go sit in a Civic or RSX...I feel like I'm king of the world...

you can lower it without giving up ride quality, just a mild drop will probably do the trick. keep in mind that lowering is not only for look either, the question is how much is too much.

Thanks, dudes!

For all your input. Hmm, I am leaning towards aftermarket 16s with 225-45s at the moment. This is my daily driver and I drive it in snow and ice in winter too, so that may be the best setup. If I do get a beater in the future, I should probably drop it then and get bigger rims.

Yeah, our cars do sit pretty low...check this out:

I went to honda for an oilchange (I know...wont do it again) and the tech came out...looked at me and said "I cant change your oil...your car is too low". I looked at him and started cracking up and had the fortune to tell him that it was stock height with stock rims...IE, no lower than when it left Honda! Talk about embarassed, he turned beet red. Also, my car scrapes if I dont take it at about 3-5 mph at most getting into my driveway...though my driveway looks like this /. Wheel Gap is a *****.
