Do I need a bypass valve?

I got a 99 prelude base, and I have a fujita f5 cai. It's starting to rain where I live, do I need a bypass valve?

Just don't dive through puddles - not like you would anyway even if you had a stock intake (i'd hope)

I stay clear of deep water as best I can. I was just curious because my buddy had a 97 integra gsr with a cold air intake, and when it rained really bad out here the car would start to take in water and bog the engine some. I do a lot of commuting up and down California and want to make sure I don't get screwed!

How exactly dose the bypass valve work? Is it open all the time, or dose it open only if the main filter gets restricted?

If you are concerned, get a Short Ram intake. Don't fool yourself into thinking your car is faster with a cold air.

I know my car is not faster with a cai over a short ram! Ive been around the block once or twice before. I personally like my 300 dollar f5fujita cai, and don't want to hack it in half! It has nothing to do with how fast my car is! I've only got a 49 state cai and a 49 state cat back and that's it for mods, so I know my car is not fast! Now back to the question at hand! How exactly dose the bypass valve work? Because if it stays open all the time, what's the point of even having it! It would just act like a short ram any way.

^Lol.

It's essentially the same thing as drilling a hole in your intake tube. If you are going to do that, might as well just get a short ram.
