Impact screwdriver, maybe. That might break it...

there is a little thing u can buy, which u drill in the middle of the screw, and then it gives u another part that will unscrew it, you can find it at hardware stores

This happened to me except I stripped it myself. LOL DOH!

I used my dremel and used a bit with the little ball on the end that will grind stuff down. It fit inside the + of the screw and I extended one of the lines in the +. LOL Make sense? Then I used a big ass flathead screwdriver and it came out no problem. Try using bigger screwdrivers cause you can get more torque.

if you pull the screw out..wouldn't that strip the threads?

i tried lightly a drill bit that's suppose to take out damaged screws..i used a rachet and not a drill..and it just feels like its stripping it more

Sears sells this damaged screw extractor for $20. It comes with three bits and a case. Replace the screw with a bolt so you won't have a hard time taking it out next time.

is it okay to replace the screw w/ a bolt?...and i tried the three bit thing..it doesn't work very well..gonna try the drill with screw extractor tomorrow..wish me luck

if that doesn't work..taking the distributor off and bringing it to a mechanic

well, of course if u pull it off it will ruin the thread, u drill in, just a bit, and it gives u a bit of grip so u can unscrew it

Don't remove the distributor. It will mess up your timing. When I was using the screw extractor it looked like it wasn't working at first. The head of the screw was almost shaved off before the screw started coming out.

It doesn't mess with the timing on our cars. You can't change the timing with any of the USDM 5th Gens and you can only put the distributor on one way (the correct way).
