Darn ATTS system...

So I go to install my Hondata IM gasket today, and low and behold to get the last three bolts underneath I have to take the ATTS system out. Any hints/tips I am gonna need other than my trusty Helms manual

I have the driver's side suspension out, and pulled the driveshaft out tonight... started taking down the exhaust.

Anyone who's done this and has tips they would be so greatly appreciated.

What a PITA...

You have the hardest part done really which is taking the driveshaft out and the exhaust off. Th rest is bolts an a wire harness. I have found that if you keep the unit level when taking it out you won't leak any of the fluid out of the passenger side opening. Routing the hoses the way they came out when putting them back in helps out too. That bolt on the upper pasenger side is a PITA. And don't overtorque the bolts there is only four holding it in.

LOL, thats what i thought....that you can't take off the intake manifold without taking off the ATTS. You should've seen how many hours i spent trying to ponder how to take the last two bolts off. (ended up giving up and hoping to put it in some other day )

It's not that hard to get at those bolts. Just use a 1/4" or 1/2" drive at the uppermost part so you can get the socket closer. The only problem that I had was getting the screw back in after the install. Ended up loosing the screw somewhere up there. Now it's ziptied in there.

But it's really not all that hard with an SH model. You DON'T need to remove ATTS to get the vacuum box off.

Just use a standard 1/2" drive with a few extensions. Try to use the smaller ones (I had two 3" extensions on top of a foot and another 6" long) toward the bolt to give a little more bend. I tried to do it with 3/4" drive extensions and I couldn't get it. But using a 1/2" or 1/4" drive it becomes very easy to get.

A cheap set of universal joints and a few extentions is very helpful... it's just hard getting a straight shot at some of the bolts.
If you do remove your ATTS getting the drive shaft out is the hardest part. After that all you need to do is disconnect the cooler lines, unplug the harness connecter and remove four bolts. There is also one small hose at the top of the unit you need to unplug as you lower the ATTS.
I have an entire Type SH drive train in my garage, if I can get my hands on a camera some time I'm planning on taking a few pics of how it all goes together.

Just to clarify things:

I don't have a Helms manual on me at the moment, but the cliffs notes to getting the ATTS unit of is:

remove driver side driveshaft
disconnect the 2 ATTS fluid coolant lines
unplug the electrical harness
remove the 4 bolts that hold teh ATTS unit

that's it? I wish I had my helms with me to check the diagrams...
