After a few months your shocks won't be able to hold the extra pressure put on them, and you will need to purchase new shocks.

This would give you a really bouncy ride too...

Don't rule it out. I bought (pretty cheap) coil overs, some sport springs, and some H&R race springs, and stock cut springs gave me the best ride. Your stock struts will go out no matter what when you lower your car. It was actually a surprisingly comfortable ride, and not bouncy if I remember right. Not as good handling as a real set of aftermarket springs, though.
Most of the people that tell you not to do it have not done it themselves. I was bored and had 3 sets of springs so I tried it out for a few weeks.

You compromise the safety of your car by cutting your springs. Your stock springs were not meant to be cut and if you cut them, then the shorter springs will not be able to hold and suspend the car properly. Also, you'd be causing unnecessary stress on your stock suspension components. Yes it is a ghetto and stupid idea...so DON'T DO IT!!!
