well you cant really call (my) 60mm Skunk2 catback anything like silent, it screams a bit when youre driving on highway.... and those 3" arent even that silenced what that is so I can imagine how horrible they are in DD cars

Can't help you there, I never bought exhausts for their sound, flow is everything. Even if the collector is 2.5" and you have a pipe that expands to 3" to meet up with a 3" exhaust you can heat wrap the header to increase flow and really make the 3 in" do it's job in making it breathe.

All this though wont mean a whole lot if your intake mods are just some metal pipe and a cone filter, a better IM and bigger TB will really open it up along with an exhaust. What's the point of moving air out faster when it isn't being pulled in any faster?

^ size doesnt make them necessarily flow any better, more important is the header's "pulse world", how well pipes and collector are designed (those Y branches, bends and all that)

and those IM and TB doesnt mean a lot if your stock cams cant provide the engine to get that air and fuel - better combustion

Well i built my exhuast for two purposes, one a cammed h23vtec with full intake and exhuast, and two, a turbocharged h22. I chose three inch piping wiht as little restriction as possible. My car sounds very nice, at idle and low rpm in city driving it is reasonable, at WOT it is loud.

Seeing as i dont drive the prelude all the time i can deal with it being loud wheni do drive it. In the end it comes down to what you are willign to put up with.
