Custom 2.5 in pipe with muffler help

Sorry if this has been answered but ive been searching and couldnt find anything. I was think about getting a megan muffler and then taking it to midas and getting a custom 2.5" pipe from the cat. But im not sure if this will cost more than just going with the megan catback. The catback is around $380. But the muffler is around 100 and im not sure what it would cost to get the custom pipe done. Does anyone know about this? Thanks

Well all i can say is this " i just got a 3" custom stainless exhaust on my car, not polished stainless but stainless none the less, the 10 foot peice cost me 169$, then 2 mandrelled bent hook curve things were 70 each, the two 14 in by 4" OD magnaflow resonators were 90 each, the Apexi N1 muffler was 190, the 2 vband clamps were 110 each and the 2 02 bungs were .75 each , and a random peice of steel 3/8" bar for the hangers. The labour, would have been 8 hours of fabrication for fitting and welding, at whatever rate you would find. Add that all up and you will have a overshot guess of how much a custom 2.5 inch would be.

Wow you got ripped off. I have never paid more than 150 for all my piping with having it installed labor and bends. I have had all my exhausts custom made also. Ive only had to wait 2 hrs at the most for all my exhaust to be made and that was the longest I've ever had to wait.

Honda Prelude Forum - Prelude Online.com - PhotoPlog - exhuast

Honda Prelude Forum - Prelude Online.com - PhotoPlog - exhuast

Here is the amount of material i bought for that price, and then a picture of the finished exhuast showing how little i used. this is all tig welded and perfectly fitted to sit no lower than the oem piping, not some ****show job done by a lacky at local muffler shop. I was gonan egt polished stainless but realistically no one is going to see it so whatever.
Also, considering i have enough 3 inch stainles steel pipe left over to also put custom exhuast on my tundra too, its not so bad. When you figure how much material i had left over you would realise that that money was well spent.

Now for reference, i was simply telling the guy what route i went and roughly how much it costed me and i even said that this price would be inflated in comparison to his 2.5". The welding i didnt not include as i hadnt paid for it, thats the benefit of doing it in your garage. On that note, later this fall when i get the exhuast on my tundra i will post that up so you can really see where the rest of that money went.

OK see that makes more sense now. And no Midas will charge you a lot. Like 70 bucks a weld or so. So I would call around.
