crunching in front suspension, help?

hi, i've notice this a lot lately on my prelude. I drive freeways a lot, and most of the time in gridlock. Anyways, when i stop and go a lot, there's a lot of this crunching noise in the front suspension, sometime you can feel it through the steering wheel. I guess the best analogy is like when you wrist or knuckles of you hand crack. I've check the suspension and made sure everything's tight and nothing's binding. I have a set of eibach pro's and KYB AGX shocks all around. Can anyone please help me with suggestions?

Replace them. You could also look into the ball joint camber bolts, they include a ball joint.

is there anyway to make sure it's the ball joints and not anything else. Cause it looks like it's going to cost a lot to fix this problem.

I think a lot of owners hear a brief snapping sound when they start out in first gear or reverse. I think it might be transmission related, and probably nothing to worry about.

I installed a SPC camber kit about a two months ago and that crunching/snapping sound is still there in the first gear and reverse. Mainly in gridlock situations or if the car has been driven for a while. Could it be related to the brakes? While in gridlock there is a great deal of braking involve. Just a thought...

I know this quote is 2 years old, but I thought I'd stir it up some to see what happens. I am experiencing the same noises under same type circumstances. Gridlock = heat. It has been in the 100s here for a week and I've really noticed these noises. Example; at 6 AM when it's a chilly 81 degrees no noise = priceless. In the evening when the temps are over 100 popping and clicking. After, I got home the other day I rocked the car some and heard the popping. The next morning I rocked it again and silence.

Yes, this topic is old, but has anybody managed to understand this issue?

I have no issues in cold weather but in hot summer days and especially in stop-n-go traffic when the heat builds up there's some sort of metal cracking in left front suspension area. I do feel it (not just hear) through the steering column. It is when I turn the steering wheel at any angle when this is especially explicit, but suspension movements contribute as well. Does not depend on wheels angle. I exited the car at such conditions and asked my wife to turn steering wheel... It feels like the source of this is most likely the left side of steering rack, but that's not easy to tell, so maybe I'm wrong.

I understand that replacing the rack or some part of it would answer whether that was a steering rack issue or something else, but thought maybe someone knows where the problem is.

I park the car - and feel this cracking when try to rock the car. But let it just stay and cool down - everything is ok.

I dunno about the heat causing any problems, but you may have a bad tie rod. Could also be a bad bushing somewhere possibly. That whole "it only happens when it's hot" thing is throwin me off.......These are just guesses^
